The Skills and Knowledge for Youth (SKY) Project of Nagoya University will be giving a talk and holding a workshop in the upcoming Board Game-Based Learning Forum (BGBLF) 2025 in Bangkok, Thailand. Organized by the Institute of Board Game for Learning, an educational research institute in Thailand, the forum aims to bring together educators, academics, and game designers from around the region to exchange knowledge, share experiences, and promote a learning culture through board games. The forum will take place on September 6-7, 2025, at TK Park, 8th Floor, Central World Shopping Center.
The BGBLF 2025 will run three events:
- BGBL Showcase will hold exhibits presenting board games as learning tools designed to foster education through gameplay.
- BGBL Learning Room will host workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions, and academic presentations on game-based learning.
- BGBL Learning Stage will hold an open forum to discuss current issues related to board game learning.
Prof. Shoko Yamada will give a keynote speech highlighting the SKY Project’s efforts to promote the skills training of workers using board games. At the BGBL Learning Room, members of the SKY Project will also conduct an interactive workshop titled “Designing Game-Based Training Programs from Scratch!” The workshop aims to guide participants through the design process of creating an impactful board game-based learning/training session. Drawing on real examples from SKY’s past projects and academic research, the team will demonstrate how to make board game learning/training fun and genuinely effective. Lastly, at the BGBL Showcase, SKY will put up an exhibit to showcase our original board games created to train noncognitive skills.
These activities are part of SKY Project’s mission of exploring and promoting innovative and accessible methods to strengthen noncognitive skills training.
